Make It BIG- How I got started

During the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic, many parents found themselves searching for creative ways to keep their children entertained and engaged. For me, this search led to the discovery of a newfound passion for chalk art. What started as a simple activity to entertain the kids quickly evolved into a fulfilling artistic journey.

How did it all begin?

It all started with a box of Crayola chalk and a blank driveway. Looking for a way to brighten up the neighborhood and bring joy to passersby, I began creating vibrant and chalk drawings. This reignited my passion for art that had lay dormant since my teens.

Why chalk art?

What initially drew me to chalk art was its accessibility and affordability. With just a few dollars' worth of chalk, you can create large-scale, impactful artworks. The impermanence of chalk art also adds a sense of spontaneity and freedom to the creative process, which allows me to experiment and explore without fear of making mistakes. If it doesn't work out, it'll be gone with the next rain!

Practice Makes Progress

As I continued to create chalk art, my skills and techniques began to improve. I experimented with different styles, colors, and blending tools, pushing the boundaries of what I thought was possible with chalk. I have also been lucky to learn from an online community of skillful street artists around the world, who share their own journeys and tips.

Taking it to the next level

Encouraged by the positive feedback from my community, I decided to take my chalk art to the next level. I began creating larger pieces on community roads and walkways, transforming dull surfaces into vibrant works of art. I always bring extra chalk for anyone who wants to create alongside me. Art should be accessible! I love to share tips and tricks with anyone who is curious or creative.

See you out there!
